Preprimary (Ages 3-5)
Open-ended questions:
Encourage young learners to explore and investigate, which is essential for understanding concepts and topics. This approach also helps children build confidence in their abilities, as they are encouraged to share their ideas and explore new possibilities.
Play:
Children in the Foundation stage play and learn. Our classrooms are learning labs and they play with different materials like play dough, sand, water, blocks, Lego, boxes, blocks, and natural materials which spark their curiosity. This Play and Learn approach fosters creativity and learning by doing.
Storytelling:
Sparks imagination, enhances language skills, and encourages critical thinking. Through stories, children learn to express their thoughts and emotions and make connections with their own experiences. It also develops a love for reading, making learning enjoyable and engaging. Storytelling also supports cognitive, social, and emotional growth in young learners.
Exploration stations:
Educators provide various opportunities through activities for children to develop their language and communication skills, social-emotional skills, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and creativity as part of a comprehensive early childhood education program.
Art Integration:
This approach encourages children to explore, investigate, and learn through hands-on activities, and art projects, making learning fun and engaging across various disciplines. The above approaches align with the NEP 2020 and the ECCE framework, which emphasize early childhood education, play-based learning, holistic development and inclusive education. By integrating these approaches, educators can create a comprehensive and engaging early childhood education.
